Applications Open for Access City Award 2016
The European Commission is calling EU cities to participate in the sixth edition of the Access City Award 2016. This prize is highly recognized for its distinction in making cities more accessible to people with disabilities and to the elderly. A ceremony will take place to grant the award at the annual European Day of People with Disabilities Conference on December 7, 2015. Interested organizations are welcome to apply.

ACCESSIBLE TOURISM: Innovative approaches between accessibility and heritage protection- Conference Press release
On 5 December, 27 speakers from EU institutions, Foundation, associations for people with disabilities, Accessible Tourism Organisations, local regional authorities and others met at the EESC to discuss ways of improving inclusive social, political and physical infrastructures while promoting accessibility for all within the tourism industry.

"ToTour4All”- Release of the cultural tourism app for people with limited mobility, visual and hearing impairments
On Tuesday 17th of February the new cultural tourism app "ToTour4All” will be presented and available for free for people with limited mobility, visual and hearing impairments The new app allows people of disability to discover Turin through a circular route between 30 cultural, historical and artistic spots.

Project Smart Tourist Routes for Inclusive Groups (STRING)
STRING (Smart Tourist Routes for Inclusive Groups) is a transnational cooperation initiative to be implemented by 12 partners from 6 countries. It aims to create 9 fully accessible itineraries respectively in Italy (Piedmont Regione), Spain (Ávila) and Bulgaria (Sozopol) which will then be developed into comprehensive tourist packages.

First UNWTO Conference on Accessible Tourism in Europe 19/20 November 2014- registration open
The UNWTO and the Government of the Republic of San Marino will jointly organize the 1st UNWTO Conference on Accessible Tourism in Europe, to take place in San Marino on 19/20 November 2014. The Conference will feature good practices of universal accessibility and design for all in a wide-range of tourism destinations in Europe, with a special focus on heritage cities.
