Legal capacity is a necessary precondition for self-determination and full enjoyment of human rights. Inclusion Europe through its Working group develops concepts and policies to implement full legal capacity, access to justice and protection against discrimination as essential elements of European Union policies in line with the UN CRPD.

On November 23, Inclusion Europe will hold the first Annual Round Table meeting of the main stakeholders on legal capacity and supported decision-making to monitor progress in reforming guardianship laws and to discuss new initiatives in the field.

Member States who are driving forces of the changes in legislation, as well as representatives of the High Level Group on Disability, of the European Commission, the European Parliament the Council of Europe, the Fundamental Rights Agency and collaborating NGOs will be invited to discuss and exchange their views. The meeting will offer a platform, where participants can talk about and present their different approaches, different point of view and concrete experiences as well as barriers on legal capacity reforms.
