The European network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT), the 3S Laboratory and Via Libre, have been commissioned  to carry out a study on Training and Skills requirements for Accessible Tourim in Europe, in order to find out about any existing Accessible Tourism education or training courses in Europe. The courses may be either for students of tourism and hospitality (various specialities) or training courses for professionals (managers, employees or unemployed persons). They may be single modules or more extensive courses.

A first survey has been done and used to gather initial information about past or current training offers in Europe.

The aim of this study is to build a complete picture of all training courses, however small they may be, related to accessible tourism and similar offers or initiatives in all European countries. Courses may be offered by public or private tourism training organisations, schools and colleges of tourism, consultants or specailists, non-governmental organisations, etc.

The survey will be used to create a map of past and present training offers.

A more detailed examination of some training examples will be done to develop a  "Best Practice Case Studies" for dissemination by the European Commission at the end of the study.

This study has been commissioned by the European Commission DG Enterprise and Industry, Tourism and Cultural Instruments Unit.
